Coffee Berry Borer

Definition

The coffee berry borer is a pest beetle native to Africa which can cause massive devastation to coffee crops. The small insect chews holes throughout the fruit and seed to lay its eggs, causing rot to occur prematurely, as well as introducing foreign bacteria into the young coffee seed.
